WHO WE ARE

Join Our Journey in

Tanzania

We are Katalin and Paulo.

Together, we organize small, safe, culturally immersive trips across Tanzania, beyond the usual tourist routes. Our trips are designed for travelers who want to see Tanzania through local eyes, meet people in their homes and villages, explore markets, national parks or plantations, walk, hike, eat, visit cultural and historical sites, or just sit with Arusha coffee and talk about the stories behind the land.

We organize journeys from 1 up to 20 people, ensuring personal attention, safety, and meaningful experiences.

Every photo you see on this website is ours as a piece of memory of our adventures together.

WE LOVE BEING ON THE ROAD

Life is A Journey

A Journey is like life itself with all its adventures, joy, excitement, boredom or discomfort.

You may be surprized by hearing this from us but yes: a journey, especially in Africa, is not always within the comfort zone. Maybe you won’t be able to buy your favorite ice cream or deodorant, or you won’t like the food, or there won’t be hot water or electricity. Or you just sit at the maasai village because of the rain. Yes, this is life. And this is why we believe: the best journeys are always improvised. You will need your personality, which is flexible, tolerant, open minded and patient.

But at the end of the day you will get a lifetime experience of which it will be heartwarming to look back in the rest of your life.

THE IDEA OF UNTOUCHED WILDERNESS WITHOUT PEOPLE IS A WESTERN ILLUSION.

IN AFRICA, PEOPLE AND LAND BELONG TO EACH OTHER.

CLASSICAL PIANIST FROM HUNGARY

Music Teaches Patience and Acceptance

But what is she doing in Tanzania?

That is, without doubt, the million-dollar question.

She fell in love with the land, with its vast horizons, its history, and its quiet strength.
Katalin has long been deeply drawn to African and Tanzanian history, and to the stories that shape this part of the world. She publishes her book ‘When The Light Goes Through You’ about Tanzanian & Zanzibari history very soon.

Be careful, though — her passion is contagious.
You may arrive as a traveler and return home with a different understanding, a different emotion, and perhaps a different way of seeing Africa and its people.

BEING A MAASAI WARRIOR IN THE 21st CENTURY

WildernessTeaches Survival Skills

and Sharpens Senses

Yes, Paulo is a real Maasai warrior — a moran — who completed the traditional three-year warrior training in the bush. Nature was his school.

His knowledge and steady mind are as remarkable as his ability to solve problems calmly and thoughtfully in any situation. I have never seen him nervous, angry, or in a hurry. There is a quiet strength in him — a grounded presence that comes from deep roots.

His understanding of his own culture is profound, and he communicates with a peaceful, diplomatic clarity that makes you feel at ease wherever you are. You could not wish for a better tour leader by your side.

And as for the rest of your questions — they will be answered along the way: in the car, during a hike, or over dinner under the open sky.

Tanzania is a country where history, culture and daily life are woven together in extraordinary ways. Our Cultural & Historical Journeys are designed for travellers who wish to look beyond the famous wildlife and beaches, discovering the people, traditions and stories that have shaped East Africa for centuries.

Whether you have just one day or wish to explore for a week or more, our itineraries are completely flexible. Choose from a short city excursion, combine several destinations into a multi-day journey, or let us create a tailor-made experience that matches your interests, pace and travel style.

Our destinations include the vibrant streets of Dar es Salaam, the rich heritage of Bagamoyo, the UNESCO-listed alleys of Stone Town, the hidden coastal charm of Tanga, the cultural gateway of Arusha, and the welcoming foothills of Moshi beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. Along the way, you'll visit historical landmarks, museums, local markets, colonial architecture, traditional communities, cultural centres and places that reveal the remarkable diversity of Tanzania.

3. Nature & Hike

Tanzania's mountains offer far more than the challenge of reaching a summit. Our Nature & Hiking Adventures are designed for travellers who want to experience the beauty, tranquillity and rich culture that surround these remarkable landscapes—whether for a few hours, a full day, or a multi-day journey.

Our itineraries are completely flexible and can be tailored to every fitness level and interest. Enjoy gentle nature walks through lush forests, hike to spectacular waterfalls, explore the lower slopes of Africa's highest mountain, or challenge yourself on longer mountain treks. Whether you are looking for a relaxing walk or an unforgettable adventure, we will create the perfect experience for you.

Discover the breathtaking landscapes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, where rainforest trails, ancient trees, volcanic scenery and diverse wildlife await. Even without climbing to the summit, you can visit the famous mountain gates, hike through beautiful national park forests, enjoy panoramic viewpoints and experience the unique atmosphere that has inspired explorers for generations.

Beyond the mountains, our journeys lead you through traditional villages, vibrant coffee plantations and fertile highlands around Arusha and Moshi. Meet local farmers, learn how Tanzanian coffee is grown, harvested and roasted, taste freshly prepared coffee straight from its source, and experience everyday life in communities that have lived in harmony with these landscapes for centuries.

Hidden waterfalls, crystal-clear streams, birdlife, colourful flowers and peaceful forest paths provide countless opportunities to reconnect with nature. Along the way, you'll discover the remarkable biodiversity of northern Tanzania while enjoying authentic encounters with local culture.

Many of our hiking experiences can easily be combined with safaris, cultural tours or a relaxing stay in Zanzibar, allowing you to experience Tanzania from every perspective.

4. Beach Holidays
$0.00

Not every journey through Tanzania has to be filled with early morning game drives or mountain trails. Sometimes, the greatest adventure is simply slowing down.

Stretching from the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean to the palm-fringed shores of Zanzibar, Tanzania's coastline offers a collection of beaches, each with its own rhythm, character and story. Some are lively and colourful, others feel as though they have been forgotten by time.

Whether you dream of a few peaceful days by the sea or wish to combine your beach holiday with safaris, cultural experiences or hiking adventures, our coastal journeys are entirely flexible. Stay for a weekend, a week, or let the ocean become the perfect ending to a longer Tanzanian adventure.

Wake up to the soft sound of the waves in Zanzibar, where white sand, traditional dhow boats and the scent of spices create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world. Spend your days snorkelling above vibrant coral reefs, sailing into the sunset, discovering hidden coves or simply doing absolutely nothing—with no agenda except watching the tide change.

Venture beyond the islands and discover the mainland coast. Relax on the peaceful beaches of Ushongo, one of Tanzania's best-kept secrets, where endless stretches of sand and quiet fishing villages offer a slower, more authentic side of the Indian Ocean. Or enjoy the lively seaside atmosphere of Dar es Salaam, where city life meets the ocean, creating the perfect setting for waterfront dining, evening strolls and unforgettable sunsets.

No two beaches in Tanzania are the same. Some invite exploration, others invite stillness. Some are made for diving, kayaking or sailing, while others simply ask you to take off your shoes and forget what time it is.

At Through Tanzania, we believe a beach holiday is more than a stay at a beautiful resort. It is the freedom to choose your own pace, to discover hidden corners of the coast, to meet local communities, to taste freshly caught seafood, and to experience the Indian Ocean as it has been enjoyed for generations.

Because sometimes the most memorable part of a journey isn't where you go next—it's where you decide to stay just a little longer.
