A Different Kind of Journey…
A BOOK BEHIND ALL THE JOURNEYS
Across continents, cafés, and quiet moments between journeys, a story slowly takes shape, one that reaches back into the hidden fractures of 19th-century East Africa. Through the intertwined lives of slave traders, explorers, and the silenced, the novel questions what “discovery” and “civilization” truly meant. It is not just a journey into the past, but a reckoning with the stories history chose to tell, and those it tried to forget.

I’ve been writing a Tanzanian –Zanzibari historical novel for the past two years.
For two years, this story has lived with me, through long months of research, scattered notes, and nights where my characters refused to stay quiet. I’ve traveled with them, fallen asleep with their voices, and woken up still inside their world.
What began as curiosity became something deeper: a constant presence, a question I couldn’t set aside. This story is not just written, it has been lived.
the CAN'T LET GO Project →July, 2024 - April, 2026They really shouldn’t have ended up in the same story, but here they are: a stubborn explorer, an ever-winning Arab magnate, a careful Indian merchant, a guilt-ridden queen, a money-minded tour operator, maasais and a few others who see far more than they say. And it turns out everyone has business with everyone. Deals are made, lines are crossed, words are spoken, and suddenly nothing is quite what they thought it was. And somewhere in the middle of it all, the truth keeps quietly refusing to stay hidden.
